It’s under the billboards ‘round sepia street. Down where the young turbins start acting discreet. Just ask them where they’d go to catch that curried heat. Big Louis the doorman, he’ll give you the eye. Just, whisper the password and he’ll let you slip by Crash through the red oak doors and join that jungle inside… where you slide your shoes and sway to the grooves let your arms hang loose. move your heels until your hips feel twisted like a noose That’s the way they do it at the Club Bordeaux. There’s Sheila she’s toasting her four star premiere Antonio boasting the pennant this year And everyone else…, well, they bribed their way down here Our pompous proprietor, they call him “Big Bear” his Lady Godiva loves showing her wares. Now, boys, we don’t want trouble, so pack away those stares and we'll slide your shoes and sway to the grooves let your arms hang loose. move your heels until your hips feel twisted like a noose That’s the way they do it at the Club Bordeaux. They say that this club will go under someday No swanky survival in this midwestern decay But, everyone here will dance into their graves. where they slide their shoes and sway to the grooves let their arms hang loose. move their heels until their hips feel twisted like a noose That’s the way they do it at the Club Bordeaux.

I'm All The Friends That I Got I’ll pick a fight with you just for the fun. You need a reason? Then I’ll give you one. I’ll beat your body like it was a drum. I’m all the friends that I got. I like a drink with my prescription pills. They add a little fire to my will. Still, people treat me like some imbecile. I’m all the friends that I got. Psychopathic, stoned and spastic personality If I had an agent I’d be some celebrity. I like to say just what I want to say If you don’t like it then just go away If I’m annoying you then please don’t stay I’m all the friends that I’ve got. O.K. I’m sick, Schizophrenic - That’s alright with me. I’ve stopped my medication and I still have company. I like to shout at people in the bar they’re not important, but they think they are This is my life and baby I’m the star I’m all the friends that I’ve got. Give me my scotch and give me my cigar. I’m all the friends that I’ve got.

Shining Your Light I feel like a beggar that’s been beaten and bruised. I feel like a liar in my search for the truth. I fell like old Lucifer in a confessional booth with a deaf priest to hear all my sins. I feel like the punchline of a terrible joke. I feel like the last lines of a suicide note. I feel like my lifeline has finally broke and my arms are to heavy to swim. Can’t stop the sun from fallin’ tumblin’ to the ground Seems like the dark days dawnin’ But, that's when it turns around Things keep on goin’ from bad to worse and I’m counting my blessings, though they seem like a curse If I feel like a lost soul, well whatever its worth, you keep shining your light down on me. In the blackest of nights You keep on shining, You keep on shining your light. I'll never let you from my sight. Everything’s clear when the sun starts its climb You’ve held my hand all this time. You’ve given me shelter when the doors had all closed You’ve given me guidance when the truth was exposed You’ve given me penance for the sins you don’t know But, someday, maybe they'll all be heard. You’ve given me laughter and it can’t be suppressed You’ve given me reasons when they’re all I had left You’ve given me life when I’ve lost my last breath and it's more than I think I deserve. Chorus

This Time I Want The Truth You never came back after you're little midnight snack Now, birds have cracked the dawn now this time I want the truth. You're too late to trust Your toast and burnt right to the crust The coffee's black and strong 'cause this time I want the truth. You're breaded trail never went stale you tipped the scales with your treats and now your desert is coming You think you've got me conned But, this time I want the truth. It's your final meal you have a bitter fruit to peal Don't serve me up a yawn. No, this time I want the truth. You have a full plate and looking slightly overweight But, your clothes are on the lawn 'Cause this time I want the truth Please, understand what I demand an underhanded excuse could put your whole life in danger By dinner, you'll be gone and this time I want the truth.

Few and Far Between Taste that sweetness in the air Sudden hush and subtle stares the moment she arrives when she drop by every sense comes alive She hasn't been here for awhile to share that silent secret smile when she draws near it's suddenly clear you know your soul and why you are here But, when she goes those answers, they all disappear I'll always have the memory But, every moment always seems so few and far between. She used to come here all the time for coffee or a sip of wine But, now she's gone astray It won't be long 'til Wednesdays will all fade to gray She tired of the old routine and found herself a whole new scene when she decides to call it a night She'll kiss this place one final goodbye and leave me here with my lonely sad ballad life I'll always have the memory But, every moment always seems so few and far between. I'll always have the memory But, every moment always seems so few and far between.

Devil's Heart The weekend is creeping closer the world is off your shoulders now You can fly down from your storm soaked clouds. I won't take a "Thank-you, but, no sir". Your heavenly savior woes are through Take my hand and here 's what we can do. Sing a lullaby and say goodnight to dreams that fell apart 'cause the full moon's light will wake your devil's heart And its far too late to contemplate the meaning of it all Put your cares to sleep and wake your devil's heart Well. the witching hour is here and the skies are crystal clear Can't you hear that demon on your shoulders whisper in your ear.... "Let your halo slip and fold your wingtips down just for a start listen for the beat to wake your devil's heart" Well, we're losing all restraint But, we have the town to paint and when Monday morning rolls around you still will be a saint. You look just like an angel. But, you sure can play the part No one else would know you have a devil's heart Though your pressure 's high and pulse is off the chart only I would know you have a devil's heart The weekend is getting older. It's Sunday this song is over now.

about

Jeff DeHerdt Group Indianapolis, Indiana

I usually work with a group of disparate musicians who play well together most of the time.

Really, the only thing that keeps us together is the money.
